About me.
Professional experience
Hi, I’m Kirsten, a Counsellor and Social Worker with a rich and varied background in health and emergency care.
I love motorbikes, travelling, my daughter and family. I have a super old golden retriever and a crazy border collie. I love working with families, it's an honour to help build relationships.
My journey began in Nuclear Medicine and evolved through roles in Ambulance services and Nursing. I completed my Post Graduate Certificate in Counselling in 2024 and a Masters in Social Work (child and family services - See FAQ's for info about SW) in 2025. I undertook Social Work to better understand how families and children sit within systems, so I can better support their needs, and I think its much better than Psychology!
Over the years, I’ve worked with people experiencing acute trauma, gender and neuro diversity, as well as those living with a variety of personality and behavioural disorders, experiences that have given me deep respect for the complexity and strength of the human experience.
Being a Social Worker I also take a systems lens to my work, recognising that many people aren’t just dealing with personal struggles, but are also battling to access services, feel heard, or navigate the systems and institutions around them.
I’m currently expanding my practice to include Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), both powerful, evidence-based approaches that support healing, resilience, and psychological flexibility. And I hope in the future to be able offer medicare rebatable sessions. I also enjoy using game and tech-based interventions when working with children, helping them explore emotions and build skills in engaging, age-appropriate ways.
